Confucius Classroom at Thailand’s Xingmin School Hosts 2025 Spring Festival Celebration

On January 28, the eve of the Chinese Spring Festival , the Confucius Classroom at Xingmin School Thailand held a Spring Festival gala themed “Gold Snake Brings Good Fortune, Celebrating the New Year.” The event was attended by Hou Yulan, Deputy Director of Xingmin School, Principal Huang Hanshi, Principal of the Chinese Department Hong Huijuan, as well as officials from HNU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Chinese representatives of the Confucius Classroom, and nearly a thousand teachers and students, all dressed in festive attire to jointly celebrate the Year of the Snake.

During the event, Hou Yulan, Hong Huijuan, and Zhao Yang, Director of our university’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, delivered speeches warmly welcoming everyone and extending New Year greetings. They expressed that in the past year, Henan Normal University and Xingmin School have closely collaborated, achieving significant progress in the development of the Confucius Classroom. They hoped to continue working together in the new year to promote Chinese language education in Thailand and strengthen cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.

The festivities commenced with a lively lion dance performance, eliciting cheers from the audience. Students from the third and fourth grades showcased the charm of Chinese martial arts with their performance of Tai Chi Fan. Volunteer teacher Wang Yan from the Confucius Classroom displayed the art of Chinese calligraphy by writing Spring Festival couplets, conveying New Year wishes. Students from the second grade recited Chinese ancient poems, while a colorful song-and-dance piece titled Treading Waves added vibrancy to the event. Additionally, volunteer teacher Yuan Yuan, together with expatriate teacher Yao Fumiao from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regions Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and sixth-grade students, performed a song and dance titled Love and Care for One Another, expressing a deep bond of friendship between China and Thailand. The fantastic performances received continuous applause, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. To celebrate the arrival of the New Year, teachers from the Confucius Classroom and the Chinese Department organized the “Spring Festival Coloring Contest” for all students. During the gala, prizes and certificates were awarded to the winning participants.

In cultural experience activities such as “Red Envelopes Pass On Affection,” “Red Lanterns Celebrate the New Year,” “Art and Calligraphy for Happiness,” and “Spring Festival Knowledge Quiz,” everyone actively participated, enhancing their understanding of traditional Spring Festival customs through laughter and joy.

This event provided teachers and students at Xingmin School Thailand with an opportunity to experience the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, creating a platform for showcasing talents and fostering emotional connections. Through participation, they enjoyed the unique joys of the Spring Festival, harvested immense New Year happiness, and deeply felt the charm of traditional Chinese culture, greatly promoting cultural exchange and goodwill between China and Thailand.
